A man has suffered a broken jaw and nose during a suspected sectarian attack in Londonderry.

A group of up to 10 men were involved in chasing the victim and his friend after an argument broke out in the early hours of Saturday.

He was assaulted close to the Foyle Street car park at about 2.30am.

The injured man, who is from the Waterside area, sustained a broken jaw and broken nose, as well as other facial and mouth injuries. His friend was also punched.

Police are appealing for information.
