He was reported in the Oldpark Avenue area on Friday at around 1.30pm.

As police arrived, the man attempted to run away but was detained by officers and was found to have a knife on him in a subsequent search.

The man, aged 34, was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon and is currently in custody assisting police with their enquiries.

"Police are grateful for the vigilance of members of the local community who in this case reported this male and his suspicious activity promptly to the police allowing us to respond quickly, apprehend a potentially dangerous individual and in doing so protect the local community," a PSNI spokesperson said.
