Three men forced their way into the house in the Upper Newtownards Road area at around 12.30m on Friday.

One of the men was armed with a machete and the gang demanded cash from the 62-year-old resident.

The would-be robbers left empty handed.

The victim was treated at the scene by paramedics. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
