The driver of a black Volkswagen Golf was threatened by the attacker in the Distillery Street area of the city at around 6.45pm on Wednesday.

The hijacker made off in the car towards the Royal Victoria Hospital.

He is described as around 5'9" tall and wearing a black hoody with a scarf covering his face.

A man, believed to be driving a red Volkswagen Golf, came to the victim's aid.

Police would be keen for this man to come forward to provide a witness statement.
