Man 'stable' after mountain rescue

A man is in a stable condition in hospital after he was rescued from a mountain on the outskirts of Belfast.

Police, the fire service, the ambulance service and the coastguard responded to a report of a person in distress on Black Mountain in the west of the city on Monday morning.

The PSNI's helicopter was also deployed during the emergency.

The man was helped down from the mountain and airlifted to a nearby hospital for treatment to his injuries.

A PSNI spokesman added: "His condition is described as stable."
