The 27-year-old was attacked by another man at the junction of the Castlereagh Road and Euston Parade, at around 10.15pm on Wednesday.

Police said: "The man was treated for a stab wound to his neck and was taken to a nearby hospital for his injuries. His condition is described as serious, but stable."

Detectives are trying to trace his movements before the assault.

Police are particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have seen him before 10.15pm in the area of Castlereagh Road.

The victim is approximately 6' tall, with short dark hair and was wearing blue jeans, red Nike Air Max trainers, and a cream Adidas hoodie with 'Adidas' crest on the left chest area.

"This was a life-threatening attack and police are keen that anyone with information makes contact with CID at Musgrave PSNI on 0845 600 8000," a PSNI spokesman said.
