Man stabbed in east Belfast

A man has been taken to hospital following a stabbing incident in east Belfast.

He received a number of stab wounds to his back and arm during the incident which happened at Madrid Street in the Short Strand at around 3.35pm on Wednesday.

He was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries.

In a separate incident on Tuesday shortly before midnight, a man received a puncture wound to his neck during an attack in the Mountpottinger Road area.

He was taken to hospital for treatment to injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening.

A 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm in connection with the incident. He was later released on bail pending further enquiries.

Detectives have asked anyone who may have witnessed either incident or who has any information to contact them at Musgrave on the non-emergency number 101 or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
