A 27-year-old man has been shot in the thigh in a west Belfast alleyway.

The gun attack took place between Ross Road and Balkan Street, in the Divis area of the city on Monday shortly after 7.35pm.

One man is believed to have been seen running towards the Balkan Street area following the incident.

The victim was taken to hospital for treatment for injuries not believed to be life threatening.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them on 0845 600 8000 or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
