Man shot in legs in Belfast alleyway

A man in his 20s has been shot in the legs in an alleyway in west Belfast, police have confirmed.

The incident happened in the Shaws Road area in the city at around 8pm on Saturday.

A PSNI spokesperson said that a number of shots have been fired.

The man has been taken to hospital. His gunshot wounds are not believed to be life-threatening.

The investigation into the paramilitary-style shooting is "at an early stage", the spokesperson added.

They have appealed for witnesses to come forward.

@gedT I dont know what world u live in but the truth is like most days in northern ireland there ISNT any positive news to put on their newsfeed. People dont care about baby panda's being born, or 'its gonna be a scortcher today' we want to know whats going on. If u want to live somewhere 'unnegative' I wouldnt suggest Scotland either.

UTV report the news, be it good or bad news!! There's a nice article today on a wedding at Greyabbey so I think some people just look for the negatives but all news is news.
