It happened in Ardmonagh Gardens in Turf Lodge at 10.30pm on Tuesday.

Police said the man was taken to hospital for treatment.

His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Anyone who noticed suspicious activity in the area or who has any further information on this attack has been asked to contact the PSNI.

Sinn Féin councillor Janice Austin said: "There can be no place for actions like this in our society and this attack must be condemned.

"People in the local area do not want these type of attacks. Those responsible are offering nothing to the people of the area and need to stop their actions immediately."
