The 23-year-old was dragged out of a take-away restaurant in the Juniper area and taken to open ground in Glasvey Drive where he was shot in the knee and ankle.

The victim was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries which police described as not life-threatening.

The incident happened just before 10pm and one of the attackers was described as being of slim build, with a local accent and wearing a black scarf over his face, a black beanie hat, black jacket and black jeans.

It's believed dissident republicans may have been behind the incident.

Police have appealed for witnesses or anyone with information to contact investigating officers.
