Man shot as he answered front door

A man has been shot a number of a times as he answered his front door in Co Meath.

The 39-year-old suffered injuries to his upper body and leg and had to be taken to hospital for treatment. His condition is not thought to be life-threatening.The incident happened at a house at Dowth in Slane at around 9.45pm on Sunday.Emergency crews were called out to reports of a shooting and transported the victim to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda, Co Louth.The scene of the attack has been preserved for a Garda technical examination.A statement from the Republic of Ireland's police force said: "Investigations are continuing."
