It is thought the man, who is in his 50s, was hit on the head at the site in the Greenhall Court area at around midday on Tuesday.

An ambulance service spokesman said they took a patient with serious head injuries to Causeway Hospital.

The Health and Safety Executive (HSENI) has been made aware of the incident.

A spokesman said: "Two HSENI inspectors from the construction team are attending the scene in order to begin an investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding this incident."

Police have appealed for anyone with information about what happened to contact them.
