Man seriously assaulted in hammer attack

A 22-year-old man has been seriously assaulted by a gang of masked men on the Ballybeen Estate, Dundonald.

He was attacked by men armed with a hammer and wooden sticks at flats in the Morven Park area at around 10.40pm.
The victim was taken to hospital for treatment to injuries which are not thought to be life threatening.
Alliance East Belfast MLA Chris Lyttle has expressed his shock at the "brutality and viciousness" of the assault.
"There can never be any justification for this type of attack," he said.
"If anybody has any information about this assault I would urge them to contact the police."
