Man 'serious' after west Belfast assault

A man has been left in a serious condition in hospital after he was assaulted by a number of men in west Belfast.

It was reported that the man, aged in his 30s, was attacked by a gang in the Roden Street area around 1.40am on Sunday.

Police arrived at the scene to find the man lying unconscious in the street with injuries to his head, back, arm and hand.

He was later taken to hospital. Police said his injuries were serious, but not life threatening.

Police have appealed for anyone with information to contact them.
