Two masked men, one of whom is believed to have been armed with a knife, robbed the van in the Damolly Retail Park at around 11.20am on Friday.
They made off with cash and it is understood the same men attacked a woman and hijacked her silver Audi TT in the Edenappa Road area, just over the border.
The 26-year-old was charged with armed robbery, hijacking and handling stolen goods and has been remanded in custody to appear at Newry Magistrates' Court next month.
Detective Inspector McBurney of Newry CID said: "This should send a clear message to the public that offending will not be tolerated either north or south of the border.
"We work with our colleagues in An Garda Siochana on a daily basis and will continue to do this and develop our resources to ensure that those who engage in criminal activity are brought before the courts."
