The 24-year-old was detained on Thursday, after a booby-trap device was discovered in the car of a serving soldier in the Black Dam Court area on 5 January.
Army bomb squad officers made the device safe and no-one was injured - dissident grouping Óglaigh na hÉireann later claimed responsibility.
Police said the man was released unconditionally in relation to the attack.
