Man released over Larne disorder

A man has been released unconditionally after being the seventh person to be arrested by police investigating violent disorder in Larne nearly two weeks ago.

Detectives detained the 48-year-old in Carrickfergus on Thursday afternoon, under the Terrorism Act, before taking him to Antrim Serious Crime Suite for questioning.

He was released within hours.

Crowds of up to 100 people were involved in the disturbances in the Sallagh Park area of Larne on Sunday 30 March.

According to the PSNI, police crews were attacked as they responded to the incident - with on officer requiring hospital treatment.

A number of other people were assaulted, while homes and a police car were also damaged.
