Mr Moloney, who was originally from Belfast, was attacked on Camden Street while walking home from a night out in the early hours of Sunday morning.

He was taken to St. James' Hospital but died from his injuries.

The victim, who was in his 50s, had also worked for the Irish Independent newspaper for over 20 years.

Gardaí had arrested two men in their 20s on Monday morning in south Dublin - one of whom was released without charge that night.

A file is being sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The second man is due to appear in court later.

Police have appealed for witnesses who may have been on the Camden Street area between 3.45am and 4.30am on Sunday to come forward.
