Thousands of party-goers were forced to abandon their plans for the evening when the bomb exploded in Exchange Street West on Friday, 13 December.

No-one was hurt when the device went off on the footpath while the area was being cleared about an hour after a warning call was received by the Irish News, which contained incorrect details.

Dissident republican grouping Óglaigh na hÉireann claimed responsibility for the attack.

The device had been left in a holdall in the area and police have released CCTV footage of a man on a bike they suspect of having been involved in the attack.

On Tuesday, a 41-year-old man was arrested by police.

He was released on Wednesday, pending a report to the Public Prosecution Service.
