The 32-year-old was walking along Chichester Street at around 9.30pm, close to the junction of Callender Street, when he was approached by a stranger.

The unknown man was armed with a knife and demanded the victim's mobile phone.

He handed over the phone and the attacker made off along Callender Street in the direction of Castle Lane.

The man was not injured during the incident.

The suspect is described as being aged approximately 18 to 19 years old, 5' 6" tall, of slim build with short dark hair.

He had a scruffy look and was wearing a grey sports rain coat, jeans and black woollen gloves.

Police appealed to anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with any information to contact CID at Musgrave Police Station or anonymously through Crimestoppers.
