The victim was walking in the Rosemount/Glen Road area of the city on Wednesday at about 3pm when he was approached by a man wearing a blue hoodie.

He was called an offensive name and was punched in the face, knocking him unconscious and leaving him with a swollen, split lip.

The attacker is described as 5ft 9in in height, of skinny build, aged about 19 to 21 and with short brown hair. His blue hoodie had white laces and he was also wearing grey tracksuit bottoms.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact police on the 101 non-emergency number.
