The crash happened on the A5 Mulvin Road, outside Newtownstewart, approximately one mile from Milltown, shortly after 4.30pm on Friday.

The man was driving a red coloured Jaguar car which collided with a black coloured Range Rover and a silver coloured Audi A4.

Two men and a woman have been taken to hospital for treatment. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Local SDLP councillor Patsy Kelly said: This is just heart-breaking, a tragic turn of events as we end Christmas and New Year festivities. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of the person who has died and those who have been injured."

Police have appealed for anyone who witnessed the collision or anyone who was travelling on the Mulvin Road around the time of the collision to contact them.
