Denis Patrick O'Keefe was arrested after police raided two houses in north Belfast on Thursday.

The 49-year-old, of Little Georges Street in the city, faces three charges of possessing a firearm in suspicious circumstances.

O'Keefe was detained along with a 17-year-old youth during the PSNI operation on Thursday.

Searches were carried out at properties in the Hillman Street and Little Georges Street areas.

Appearing before Belfast Magistrates' Court on Friday, O'Keefe did not seek bail at this stage.

He was remanded in custody with a view to mounting an application to be released next month.

Meanwhile the teenager, who was questioned on suspicion of drugs offences, has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
