The 45-year-old was taken to hospital for treatment on non-life threatening injuries following the aggravated burglary in the Mount Eagles Walk area.

Three men and three women who were inside the house were threatened when the gang forced their way in at about 11.45pm on Friday evening.

They attacked one man before taking a sum of cash and a Vauxhall Insignia car belonging to the owner of the house and fleeing the scene.

Police have appealed for anyone with information to come forward.

A spokesperson for the PSNI said: "One of the males is described as being approximately 6'1" tall, of heavy build wearing a blue coloured fleece and grey coloured track bottoms.

"Second male is described as being 5'6" tall, of medium build wearing a navy fleece and navy track bottoms. Third male is described as being 5'8" tall, of stocky build and wearing a black coloured coat.

"Police are appealing to anyone who has information in relation to the incident to contact CID in Lisburn on the new non-emergency number 101."
