A 38-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a man was left hospitalised following an attack in Warrenpoint, Co Down.

The arrest follows after a 38-year-old man was attacked in a house in the Springfield Road area of the town at around 1.30am on Friday.

He is currently recovering from his injuries in hospital and police described his injuries as not life-threatening.

Police have appealed for anyone with information to contact investigating detectives.

violence is increasing almost every day someone is attacked there is no deterrent anymore prison is a soft touch to these criminals they do not fear going there until we make prison a deterrent violence will increase
