Two men who were walking along Black Path in the Connswater Street area close to the Holywood Arches were approached by two masked men shortly after 10.25pm on Wednesday.

The masked pair are believed to have been armed with a suspected rifle and a machete.

One of the victims reported being struck with the rifle.

Nothing is believed to have been taken during the incident and the man struck by the suspected firearm is not believed to have received any serious injuries.

The unknown masked male armed with the suspected firearm is described as 5"8, with a muscular build. He was wearing a navy 'Adidas-style' top.

Police enquiries are continuing and anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed the incident is asked to contact Musgrave detectives on the new non-emergency number 101.
