Man held over Cookstown driver attack

A 37-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an attack on a driver in Cookstown at the weekend, which left the victim fitting in the street.

Police were called by paramedics to a report of a 34-year-old man, who was having a fit in Orritor Street in the Co Tyrone town at around 4.35pm on Saturday.

It's understood the man, who was the driver of a silver Vauxhall Vectra, had been involved in an row with the driver of a black Audi A4 in Coagh Street.

Both drivers then exited their vehicles in Orritor Street and the driver of the Audi is believed to have punched the victim, causing him to lose consciousness and subsequently fit.

Superintendent Alwyin Barton confirmed that police had detained a man over the incident on Tuesday.
