A 43-year-old man has been charged with firearms and ammunition possession by police investigating ongoing protests and public disorder throughout Northern Ireland.

A search of a property was conducted in the Kings Way area of Newtownabbey, Co Antrim on Thursday by detectives from the Operation Dulcet Enquiry Team.

The suspect is charged with two counts of possessing a firearm in suspicious circumstances, possessing ammunition in suspicious circumstances and dishonestly using electricity.

He was expected to appear at Belfast Magistrates' Court on Friday morning.

A man, 24, and a woman, 45, also arrested have been released on police bail pending further inquiries.
