Man faces Lurgan officer stab charges

A 41-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder after a police officer was stabbed in Lurgan.

The officer was slashed on the back of his head as he attended an incident in the Kilwilkie Estate in the Co Armagh town at around 2am on Sunday.
He has been taken to hospital where his condition is described as stable.
Police said the man is also facing counts of possession of an offensive weapon and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
He is expected to appear before Lisburn Magistrates' Court later.
The charges are subject to review by the Public Prosecution Service.
