Man due in court over village stabbing

An 18-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder after another man was stabbed in the village of Loughguile, Co Antrim.

The incident happened in a house in the Scally Park area on Wednesday afternoon.

A 20-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment after sustaining stab wounds to his arm and shoulder.

The 18-year-old is also accused of criminal damage and possession of an offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence.

He is expected to appear before Coleraine Magistrates' Court on Friday.

As is normal procedure all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.
