The bodies of Caron Smyth, 40, and Finbar McGrillen, 42, were discovered at an apartment in Ravenhill Court in the city earlier this month.

Police had been called to the scene to investigate a suspected burglary.

The 32-year-old man, who was detained in west Belfast, is due to appear before Belfast Magistrates' Court on Monday to face two counts of murder, a PSNI spokesman said on Sunday night.

As is normal procedure the charges will be reviewed by the PPS.

It comes after another man, aged 33, was remanded in custody after appearing in court in connection with the murders last Thursday.
