Man dies in industrial accident

A man in his 40s has died following an accident at industrial premises in Ballymena, Co Antrim.

The accident at Northern Ireland Water's Tullaghgarley Wastewater Treatment Works on the Slaght Road was reported at around 2.30pm on Tuesday.

The man was an employee of a sub-contractor for the company.

A police spokeswoman said there were no suspicious circumstances.

The Health and Safety Executive have launched an investigation.

Police are preparing a report for the coroner.

In a statement Northern Ireland Water said they are "working closely with the PSNI and the Health and Safety Executive to understand the cause of the accident.

"Our deepest sympathies are with the family of the individual at this time."
