He was involved in the collision at around 1.55am on Saturday 23 August at the Johnston Bridge roundabout, Queen Street.

It was confirmed that the man died in hospital on Friday.

Six people were inside the car which crashed after failing to stop for police.

An 18-year-old man was arrested and questioned in relation to the collision and was later released on police bail pending further investigation.

Two women and two men were also taken to hospital after they suffered injuries that were not life-threatening.

Inspector Rod Flood said police are continuing to appeal for witnesses to come forward.

He said: "We would appeal to anyone who was travelling on the Cornagrade Road around the time of the incident to contact police on the non-emergency number 101."
