A Co Donegal man has died in Germany after he reportedly went on a stabbing spree which critically injured three people.

He has been named locally as Enda McLaughlin from Glentogher, Carndonagh.

It has been reported the 27-year-old hailed a taxi in the Dutch city of Heerlen and asked to be taken across the border into Germany in the early hours of Monday morning.

Newspaper reports in Germany have claimed the man stabbed the taxi driver before fleeing the scene.

He then demanded cash from another man before stabbing him.

The man went on to hail a second taxi to take him to the city of Cologne.

That driver managed to get away after hearing an alert over his radio, however, the man went on to attack a truck driver in a layby.

It is believed he then ran onto a busy motorway before he was struck and killed by a car.

All three of the victims are said to be in critical condition.

The Irish Department of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that a 27-year-old man from Donegal died.

It is understood he had spent time in a Cork prison and had a number of previous convictions.

Castlerock, sounded like you were judging Norman right there. People can be spiritual without belonging to a religious club.

TO answer all your comments these people who use religion for their evil deeds and wars are not with God in their lives and those who commit murder also do not have God in their lives the world has turned away from God and is becoming more violent and lawless and you are all in denial at whats going on around the world

sdd in Belfast... Regarding all those phrases you attribute to God: God, if he exists, never said anything, those phrases were said by Jesus Christ, allegedly.

Norman i feel that is a VERY sweeping statment. I for one do not have God in my life, as very few of my friends have. Only 3 have God and they are pastors, and would never come out with such a delusional statment. I am neither violent, judgemental or manipulative. You sir, need to take time to reflect how your faith is being manipulated in such an ugly manner, by your good self.

norman.d in Bangor may be right, but when you consider the amount of violence carried out in the name of God and the religions that support the God idea, there is no comparison.
