An elderly man has died following a road crash in Newry.

Wilfred Vaughan Chambers, who was 68 and from the city, was killed after three vehicles collided in the Windsor Hill area at around 3pm on Tuesday.

Another man was taken to hospital with injuries which aren't believed to be life-threatening.

Police said: "Officers from the Collision Investigation Unit are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision and are asking for anyone who witnessed the incident to contact them in Steeple on the non-emergency number 101. The road remains closed at this time."

So so saddened and shocked to hear about this. Vaughan was the perfect gentleman. He lost both legs a couple of years ago due to diabetes, but his spirit never dampened. Can't believe when I saw him 2 days ago it would be for the last time. RIP my friend.
