A 53-year-old man has died following a road traffic collision in Lisburn.

The crash, which involved a red Hyundai Amica, happened on the Lough Road/ Ballinderry Upper shortly before 8.30pm on Tuesday.

Police said the man was the driver of the car.

A 38-year-old woman was taken to hospital for treatment to her injuries, which are not believed to be life-threatening.

The road was closed between Crewe Road and Tansy Road following the crash. It has now reopened.

Police have appealed for anyone who witnessed the collision or anyone who was travelling on the road at the time of the collision to contact them in Lisburn.
