The alarm was raised at Jack Allen Court, on Hawkin Street, on Wednesday at 7.30pm.

The 32-year-old was taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast, where he is described as being in a critical condition.

Three fire appliances attended the scene.

A statement from NI Fire and Rescue said: "The fire was out on arrival of Crews and a man in his 30s was taken to hospital via ambulance. Firefighters ventilated the premises and treated a woman in her 50s for shock using oxygen therapy.

"The fire is thought to have been started deliberately. The incident was dealt with at 8.18pm."
