Detectives from the PSNI's crime branch have charged a 33-year-old man with a range of terrorist-related offences, including membership of the UVF.
The man was also charged with conspiracy to cause an explosion and conspiracy to intimidate a witness.
He will appear before Belfast Magistrates court on Thursday.
The charges come as part of an investigation by the crime branch into a series of murders and other crimes by the UVF in the north Belfast area.
The PSNI took over the running of Operation Ballast from the Historical Enquiries Team last December.
