The man, who was arrested in the south of the city on Saturday night, has been charged with hijacking, kidnapping, false imprisonment, aggravated vehicle taking, assault, dangerous driving, possessing an offensive weapon in a public place and threats to kill.

He is expected to appear before Belfast Magistrates' Court on Monday.

The offences relate to an incident in the New Barnsley Park area.

A woman was threatened by a man at knifepoint and her red Audi was stolen and later found abandoned in the La Salle Drive area.

The woman was not injured during the incident, but was left badly shaken.
