A 40-year-old man has been charged after a bomb was found inside an off-duty soldier's car in north Belfast.

The man is due to appear at Laganside Magistrates' Court on Monday charged with possession of a prohibited weapon.

The soldier escaped the murder plot after he spotted the booby-trap device inside his UK-registered car in the residential Blackdam Court area off the Ligoniel Road earlier this month.

Meanwhile, a 41-year-old woman and three men aged 16, 34 and 42, who were arrested by detectives from the serious crime branch investigating the car bomb attack, have been released unconditionally.
