The 22-year-old man was arrested in the Shaw's Road area at around 11pm on Thursday.

A holdall containing an improvised explosive device was seized during the operation.

During a follow up search operation in the Lenadoon Avenue area, police discovered a viable pipe bomb device and a quantity of ammunition.

The items were taken away for forensic examination.

The man is due to appear in Belfast Magistrates' Court on Monday.

As is usual procedure, the charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.

Meanwhile, police are continuing to investigate and have appealed for anyone with information to contact investigating officers.

Please leave us alone. No one wants you here anymore. Glad the police caught you before we all suffer again. Enough is enough...go away!

Full marks to PSNI. Now let's see the judiciary play their part and send this guy off for a very very long stay in prison. We have had more than enough of this to last several lifetimes. These idiots need to get off our backs and realise they are yesterday's men and not wanted in today's society.
