Police received a report of an oil tank and house on fire at Broadlands Gardens on Saturday shortly after 1am.

The house was left substantially damaged, while two adjoining properties were also affected.

No one was injured, a police statement confirmed.

The arson attack was the latest incident in the housing estate, following a spate of security alerts dating as far back as September 2013.

A 19-year-old man has been charged with five counts of arson with intent to endanger life.

He has also been charged with three counts of placing an article causing a bomb hoax and one count of communicating false information causing a bomb hoax.

He is due to appear at Belfast Magistrates' Court on Monday, 17 March.
