The hijacking happened at about 1.30am in Carnhill, Shantallow, on Thursday.

Three men, said to be aged around 17, attacked the man and him left with cuts and bruises on his face before driving off in the blue Toyota Starlet.

The car was reportedly being driven in the Benview Estate, Coshquin, with three men on board at around 1.45am and later recovered from this area where it had been abandoned.

Police said the attackers were described as about 5'9" tall and were all wearing jeans.

One wore a dark coloured 'Superdry' coat, one a white jacket and the third male wore a multi coloured top with a white hood.
