He was forced to perform an emergency stop after seeing two men on the Churchtown Road at around 9.30pm on Wednesday.

The pair then opened the door and pulled him out of his blue Citroen Berlingo van before punching and kicking him. They drove off in the direction of Dungiven.

The driver was taken to hospital to be treated for cuts and bruising.

Police said the men both wore hoodies and had their faces covered. Anyone with more information has been asked to come forward.
