The serious assault happened in the Main Street area of the village during the early hours of Sunday morning.
At around 12.50am, it was reported that four unknown males assaulted the 18-year-old and after putting him in the boot of a car, drove him to Greyabbey where he was let out.
The man was taken to hospital for treatment for his injuries which include a suspected fractured jaw, fractured ribs and two broken arms.
A 29-year-old man appeared in Downpatrick Magistrates' Court on Monday charged with kidnapping, grievous bodily harm and threats to kill in relation to the attack.
Three other males aged 21, 28 and 30 years old arrested in connection with the attack have been bailed pending further police enquiries.
