East Antrim MLA Stewart Dickson's constituency office was also set on fire during disturbances on Wednesday night.

Police were also injured when bottles, masonry and other missiles were thrown in the West Street area of the town.

The trouble sparked after a vote at Belfast City Hall restricted the number of days when the Union flag will be flown from the building.

A 33-year-old man was detained in the Carrickfergus area on Sunday on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life and burglary.

A police spokesperson said he was released on bail pending further inquiries.
