Man bailed over 1976 murder

A man arrested in connection with the murder of William Palmer, who was shot in Derriaghy 36 years ago, has been released on police bail.

Mr Palmer died in hospital on 11 June 1976, three days after the shooting at his home on the outskirts of south Belfast.
Police arrested a 55-year-old suspect in south Belfast on Tuesday morning on suspicion of murder, possession of a firearm and membership of the IRA.
He was questioned at Antrim Serious Crime Suite before being released on police bail, pending a report to the Public Prosecution Service.
