The victim was approached by another man outside a shop on the lower Newtownards Road on Friday between 10am and 10.40am.

He was attacked by the assailant, who then walked off in the direction of Dee Street.

It is understood the man was targeted because of his nationality.

Police have appealed for anyone with information to contact them at Strandtown.
