The 37-year-old was detained in Magherafelt on Friday.

He is being questioned at Antrim Serious Crime Suite.

A Kalashnikov-type gun was used to shoot at police vehicles as they travelled along the Crumlin Road earlier this month.

Ten shots from the military grade weapon hit two police cars which were towing digital signs through a residential area at the Ardoyne interface.

No police officers or members of the public were harmed.

Two weapons were subsequently recovered from the scene following police searches of the area.

The arrest came after detectives returned to the area to distribute leaflets on Thursday night.
